Ingrid
Ingrid is one of the rarest strains you will ever come across. Originally created in Austria by crossing beloved parent strains UK Cheese and Hash Plant, this Indica-dominant hybrid has become more and more popular since it is easier to get your hands on. The strain gets its unique name because “Ingrid” is slang for cannabis in Austria. Ingrid is best known for its pungent skunk flavor with spicy undertones. In terms of its aroma, it is a mixture of acrid musk, tangy skunk, and sweet citrus. Ingrid is also well-known for its relaxing, sedative qualities. While it will certainly cause couch-lock, this is not such a bad thing if one has it planned for. Some have found that its relaxing qualities can have a positive effect against depressed feelings as well. This strain is ideal for chilling out at home, grabbing some to-go food, and relaxing on the couch. It is a nighttime bud not to be used for wake-and-bake smoke sessions. Users love this strain because of its flavor and effects while growers love this strain for its short flowering time and beautiful plants.

Ingrid: An Austrian Delicacy
Ingrid seeds grow into medium to tall, thin plants with long leaves and bushy buds. The entire plant is a pale green that shines brightly under direct sunlight or indoor grow lights. At first glance, you might think that the buds are whiter than they actually look. That is because of the crystal resin trichomes that cover the bud sites. The resin makes the plants look like they were sprinkled with sweet sugar, and this comes out in the taste and strong aroma of the strain. Ingrid also has beautiful yellow and white pistils growing out of the buds. After you have harvested the buds, you are left with super dense nuggets full of potent THC and a delicious flavor profile begging to be smoked. Because of Ingrid’s rarity in the marijuana marketplace, it has yet to win any major awards. With it becoming more and more popular now that the seeds are readily available, this strain should take home its fair share of Cannabis Cup wins. It is Ingrid’s lore that has made it this popular so far. Only time will tell if it has the stamina to stand up to the other strains.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
Ingrid requires a little more attention than some may be used to at the beginner level, but intermediate growers should have no real problems. Ingrid is not highly susceptible to mold, but it should still be monitored. Controlling the environment prevents mold and encourages healthy plants. Ingrid prefers semi-warm and semi-humid environments to really flourish. That means ample sunlight and fresh air, as well as nutrient-rich soil, are a must. The strain performs well both indoors and out because of its size and stature. You can basically grow this strain anywhere and, after a short flowering period, be left with ample harvests.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: Ingrid cannabis plants can be grown indoors and outdoors by experienced growers. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. During the vegetative phase, maintain a light cycle of 18-20 hours of light per day to promote healthy growth. Changing the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will induce the flowering stage of growth and carry you to harvest.
- Moisture control: Humidity levels should be kept around 40-50% during the vegetative stage and maintained at 30-40% during the flowering stage of growth. Maintaining constant, lower humidity will help keep mold and mildew off of your plants.
- Training Techniques: Low-stress training (LST) and Screen of Green (ScroG) methods are the best choices for this strain as they promote light penetration to the lower levels of the plant, creating bigger buds and a higher yield. Topping the plants requires adjusting the canopy to allow air and light to travel down the stems and reach as low as the soil floor.
The Germination Game Plan
Before you even plant your Ingrid female cannabis plants, you will first need to germinate these seeds. To do so, refer to our free germination guide, knowing that they are backed by our impressive 90% germination guarantee.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect to harvest after a very short flowering period of 35-50 days. If grown outdoors, the grower can expect to harvest in mid to late October.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 450 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 350 grams per plant. These yields are great, considering the super short flowering time required to hit your harvest. Keep in mind that these buds are dank and delicious and pack quite a punch.
Dominant Terpenes in Ingrid: Skunky Spice
The Ingrid terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while myrcene and limonene are secondary terpenes.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant – The spicy and peppery terpene found in nature as well as in some cannabis strains.
- Myrcene: Secondary Terpene – Earthy and herbal, contributing to the strain’s relaxing effects on the user. Known as the “Mother of All Terpenes”.
- Limonene: Citrus Fruits – Primarily found in the rinds of citrus fruits this terpene helps promote healthy lung function and can reduce anxiety in users.
Dominant Cannabinoids in Ingrid:
Cannabinoids play an important role in Ingrid seeds and are generally a huge part of most strains of cannabis. That euphoric, relaxed, and sleepy feeling you get when enjoying the Ingrid strain is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something different to the user.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of this strain. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at a whopping 25%, the THC in this Indica-dominant strain is responsible for the euphoric and relaxed feeling you get when enjoying Ingrid cannabis.
- CBD: Very Minimal Amounts – While the CBD levels in Ingrid are around 1%, the cannabinoid is still present, and the effects are noticeable in this strain. CBD plays a smaller role in what the strain does to the user. CBD is non-psychoactive and can produce effects that help with anxiety, sleep, pain, and even stress. The CBD in the Ingrid strain, even in its lower amounts, definitely has a positive effect on the user.
