Lemon Thai
The Lemon Thai strain is a well-balanced hybrid strain with a legendary background. Believed to have been birthed in the Hawaiian tropics from a cross between Hawaiian and Thai Sativa. It is also believed that the seeds were imported from Amsterdam and finally mass-produced in the United States. The legendary lineage is somewhat of a myth, but that only adds to the demand when it comes to this strain. This strain tastes delicious and has the rich scent of multiple citrus fruits including, you guessed it, lemons. Users frequently report feeling euphoric, creative, and energetic thanks to the strain’s chemical makeup. Lemon Thai weed is ideal for daytime use since it induces a relaxed, but not too relaxed, clear-headed state. Its cerebral effects allow for introspection and thoughtfulness without pinning you to the couch for the day. Although the strain hasn’t won any major awards, it is still a cornerstone in most growhouses.

Lemon Thai’s balanced delivery and mostly cerebral effects are both refreshing and relaxing, featuring the best parts of its 50/50 Indica-Sativa split. This strain is perfect for creative types that like to be active and social in their daily pursuits. The mental clarity thi strain provides is great for folks that like to wake-and-bake. The scent and flavor profile of Lemon Thai isn’t overwhelming but is welcoming. Once your grow reaches its final stages the buds will have a sweet yet skunky aroma that most cannabis growers LOVE. When fully grown the green and orange plants will reach heights of between 5 and 8 feet. If you are planning on growing this strain indoors make sure you have enough head room for this massive plant to grow. Even with its tall height, beginner growers shouldn’t have a difficult time bringing these plants to harvest.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
The Lemon Thai strain can be grown indoors or outdoors by all levels of growers. This specific strain prefers warm, sunny, and dry climates to reach its peak. The plant height is tall but not super wide, so, if you are growing indoors, make sure you have ample room for these plants to grow. Outdoor grows in gardens or greenhouses should have the room necessary to ensure these plants reach their full potential. The taller than average plants will do better indoors than outdoors and like most high THC, high yield plants, they prefer a steady stream of light and air flow to grow. The ideal temperature and humidity for this particular strain are below in our guide to growing conditions.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: Lemon Thai plants will perform great in warmer than average, moderate humidity environments. Ideal growing conditions for Lemon Thai plants include a temperature range between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Throughout the entire grow you are going to want a 18 hour on, 6 hour off light cycle. The 3:1 light to darkness ratio is reminiscent of the plant’s natural environment and will produce thick, dank buds come harvest time.
- Moisture control: The humidity needed to grow the Lemon Thai strain during the seedling and vegetative stages, should be kept around 40-60%. Reduce the humidity levels slightly when entering the flowering stage to around 30-40%. Dialing in the humidity levels of this strain will ensure that you don’t get mold or mildew on your plants. Having complete control of humidity and temperature is key to any grow setup. Utilizing organic soil is recommended as it promotes improved nutrient availability, enhanced microbial activity, and increased water retention. Consequently, this soil enhances the lemon scent and aroma in the harvested flower.
- Training Techniques: Lemon Thai plants do really well with Low-Stress training. FIMing and LST can optimize growth by allowing light to reach every inch of the plant. FIMing is when you cut a portion of the tip of each stem or branch. This technique can produce more harvestable buds and is less stressful to the plant than Topping.
The Germination Game Plan
Before you even plant your Lemon Thai female cannabis plants, you will first need to germinate these seeds. To do so, refer to our free germination guide, knowing that they are backed by our impressive 90% germination guarantee.
Yields, Flowering Time and Harvest
- Flowering Time: With an indoor grow you can expect the Lemon Thai strain to harvest after its flowering stage of 55-65 days during which time the plants transform into resinous-heavy, citrus-scented buds. For outdoor cultivation, be prepared to harvest from late September to mid-October.
- Yields: Indoor yields are around 400 grams per square meter, while outdoor grows typically produce over 800 grams per plant. Both indoor and outdoor yields are favorable, especially when you take into consideration the high THC content in this strain.
Dominant Terpenes in Lemon Thai: Delightfully Lemon
The Lemon Thai terpene profile is directly responsible for how this plant smells, tastes and the effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is terpinolene while myrcene and pinene are in the background contributing to the taste and how it affects the user.
- Terpinolene: The Most Dominant – Woody scent combined with floral and citrus notes. Known for antifungal properties.
- Pinene: Runner Up – Gives Lemon Thai its refreshing sweet and spicy tones. Also responsible for its uplifting mental state.
- Myrcene: Sedative Effects – Directly linked to Sedative Effects, Myrcene is what gives Lemon Thai its relaxing qualities.
Dominant Cannabinoids in Lemon Thai:
Cannabinoids, although in the background, play an important role in Lemon Thai and are a huge part of the genetic makeup of cannabis in general. That energetic, relaxed and even focused or euphoric feeling you get when using Lemon Thai is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something a little different.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of Lemon Thai. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at 22%, the THC in the equally balanced Hybrid is responsible for how this strain makes users feel.
- CBD: Small Amounts – While the CBD levels in Lemon Thai are less than 1% it still plays a big role in what the strain does to the user. CBD, even in small doses, is responsible for its non-psychoactive effects. CBD can help with aches and pains and is also known for settling the user’s stomach. While it does nothing for cerebral effects it can help with headaches and is good for improving sleep.
