What is Lemon Haze cannabis strain all about?

Lemon Haze is a popular marijuana strain known for its tangy lemon-y flavor profile and propensity to skyrocket emotions from gloom and doom to bright and cheery. This sativa-dominant strain has been a top choice for loads of growers since it first strut onto the scene, primarily due to its simple growth requirements and invigorating strain effects that are better than a cup of joe. If you’re a newer cannabis grower, step right up to the plate! You’ll have a fair amount of resinous, citrusy buds on your hands in no time.

What are the parent strains of Lemon Haze marijuana?

Lemon Haze is a hybrid with famous strains Lemon Skunk and Silver Haze as its parents. Lemon Skunk bestowed its citrusy aroma and flavor profile, while Silver Haze contributed its mood-boosting and energizing effects. Lemon Haze inherited only the very best qualities from its epic parent strains, making it the absolutely irresistible bombshell that it is today!

What are the recreational and potential therapeutic effects that Lemon Haze cannabis offers?

Lemon Haze marijuana is known for being the strain that people grab when they need a little kick in the booty to get their day going, or when they’re feeling a bit down in the dumps and want a pick me up. Medicinal users have also attested to its benefits, which we will dive into below!

THC and CBD Content

The THC level will often largely determine the potency of the strain and the intensity of the high that users will experience. Lemon Haze, in particular, generally contains a whopping THC content of up to 25%, which is the same as some of our other incredible strains like Runtz Muffin. This percentage can vary a good amount, depending on a myriad of factors like climate and growing techniques used.

Typically, though, users and growers can expect this strain to be quite potent in its delivery of a euphoric and cerebral experience that is akin to walking among the angels in a heavenly utopia. Of course, the effects are not described this way by new users who overdo it, but we’ve got some pro tips below for those eager novices!

Recreational Effects

Lemon Haze is often described as a “creeper” strain that initially piques users’ interest by distorting perception and senses in the most psychedelic kind of way. The euphoric effects tend to transition into a glorious boost in mood and clarity of thought and speech, often triggering a desire to have stimulating conversations with the nearest living being or busting out the paint brushes, finishing the masterpiece you’ve been meaning to create. It’s also a perfect choice when heading to a concert, art gallery, or any other creative event, thanks to its cerebral effects.

Users often find that the initial burst of energy and focus gives way to strong and comfortable body relaxation, melting them into the couch. Although the experience is largely informed by the amount of marijuana smoked or consumed, it’s safe to say that this is a potent daytime or afternoon strain. You’ll likely be wired if you smoke this at night!

Potential Therapeutic Effects

While the medicinal benefits of marijuana are purely anecdotal, Lemon Haze has been said by its users to offer lots of benefits, including:

  • Uplifting effects that provide relief from stress and anxious thoughts and feelings
  • Alleviation of depression symptoms
  • Respite from the effects of chronic pain and body aches
  • Can be counted on to inspire the munchies, improving appetite
  • Lessens experience of fatigue and lethargy

As we stated above, these benefits might not be experienced by every user, but there are enough positive reviews to offer the possibility of hope in these therapeutic sectors!

Adverse Side Effects

Since Lemon Haze can have an incredibly high THC content, it is not uncommon for novice users to experience uncomfortable anxiety or paranoia with this strain. It’s advised to consume Lemon Haze cannabis in small doses and gradually work your way up, considering its psychedelic effects and altered sensory perception in some users. Less is more with this one!

Other potential adverse side effects include the common effects associated with marijuana like dry mouth, dry eyes, and possible dizziness. To thwart these occurrences, it’s a keen idea to have lots of liquid on hand, trusty eye drops, and maybe a cushiony couch in case you need to fall into its warm embrace.

What is the flavor and fragrance of Lemon Haze cannabis?

Lemon Haze delights the senses with its bright, citrus aroma, reminiscent of strolling through an orchard full of sweet, ripe lemons. The primary terpene in this strain is myrcene, which contributes to the strain’s earthy, musky, pungent, and fruity flavor and smell, while secondary terpene D-Limonene delivers its classic orange and lemon flavors and scent. The bouquet is quite complex, offering undertones of dill, parsley, basil, hops, wood, cinnamon, clover, lavender, and rose, thanks to the other terpenes present in this strain.

Suffice it to say, new users and cannabis connoisseurs are both taken aback when they catch a whiff of this delectable strain and equally as awed when they savor its mouth-watering taste! If you’re smitten with Lemon Haze, you’re sure to love Purple Lemonade and Platinum Lemon Cherry Gelato, which have similar flavor profiles!

How do I grow Lemon Haze cannabis seeds?

Now that you know you absolutely must have your own tasty crop of Lemon Haze cannabis plants, we’ll unravel some of the growing requirements. This strain is a popular choice for both outdoor and indoor growers, as well as new and experienced growers in cannabis cultivation because they are so incredibly easy to work with!

Optimal Environment

Lemon Haze loves to bask in a warm and sunny climate, preferring temperatures that fall somewhere between 70-80°F during the day and slightly cooler temperatures at night, generally considered a Mediterranean-like climate. It requires moderate humidity levels and, like all marijuana plants, a solid amount of airflow to prevent mold and mildew from sprouting. While Lemon Haze plants are generally of medium height, cultivators should provide enough vertical space so that the marijuana plants can stretch as tall as their hearts desire. Sativa strains are known for their tall height, so it’s always wise to plant these strains with ample room for growing.

When cultivating Lemon Haze indoors, growers must provide a consistent light cycle of 18-20 hours of light during the vegetative stage and 12 hours of light during the flowering phase, as this will ensure healthy growth and bud development. Pruning and training techniques such as topping and low-stress training (LST) can keep the plant’s branches from running wild and will also allow for better light penetration.

For those who are planning on cultivating their Lemon Haze plants outdoors, make sure to grow them in a sunny and sheltered location. It’s also a good idea to check the soil and confirm that it will drain water well, as the last thing growers need is for their plants’ roots to rot! This strain also offers a relatively quick flowering time of approximately 55-65 days indoors, which means that growers need not wait an eternity to witness the blooming of their Lemon Haze babies!

When to harvest and yield size of Lemon Haze

Harvest typically occurs in late September to early October in the northern hemisphere, and growers will be able to tell when their buds have reached the zenith of their potency and flavor when the trichomes on the buds turn cloudy or amber and the pistils darken and begin to curl inward. At this point, your buds are ripe for the picking!

While Lemon Haze is not known for monstrously large yields, it is known for providing reliable, moderately sized yields. Typical outdoor yields can be as much as 550 grams per plant and indoor yields can be up to 450 grams per square meter. And, while we’ve just dropped a lot of information on you, customers are always welcome to contact us with any questions or concerns that they might have along the way!

The lemon smell is amazing so far. I have over 30 tops with 6 to 8 small nugs below. Started Dec 17 and used low-stress bending to keep it less than 3 ft high. Check back with me in a month. How I got 30 + tops was by just clipping parts of new growth without completely nipping the new growth off.

This variety grows strong. Had a couple of seeds that didn’t pop but GCS took care of it. Once they do germinate, they are juggernauts. They cannot be stopped. Recommend a high-powered light for these if growing indoors, and a 5-stage RO water supply. Mine are two weeks from being flipped to the flowering photoperiod and are undergoing low-stress training under a trellis net to keep their height under control and develop more bud sites. Growing these is much fun indeed, and will enjoy watching them explode when flowering. So far so good.

  3. Verified Owner

Really fun and positive first time growing experience. Have since ordered more genetics from GCS and will continue to in the future.

My plants are about 6ft tall, and almost 4ft in diameter, they are flowering beautifully. I cant wait till harvest time. My blue haze are a bit larger and flowering as well. Thank you GCS . I will be ordering more seeds soon.. maybe some gorilla glue and extreme girl scout cookies ?

Purchasing was a walk in the park. Finally, got them started in an AeroGarden & they popped up quickly. I’m a first time grower so I’m winging it. I started 5 thinking maybe 3 would sprout, nope, all 5 did!
They’re getting a bit smelly now & I’m not really sure about transplanting them into a different growing medium. I’d like to try keeping them in the AeroGarden as long as I can since it’s easy to adjust the lighting height, might not have enough room for them though. They’re spreading out nicely with the lights being close – I’m trying to keep it around 1” above them.
    I think I’m going to need a bigger boat(growing platform) soon ?.

If you ever need a pick-me-up, look no further than Lemon Haze. This mj strain is a sativa lover’s dream. It’s got all the citrus flavor your want paired with a fresh BURST of energy for the afternoon. Great for smoking on the weekends before going hiking or surfing. Has been an excellent journey from germination through harvest. I learned a LOT! Great growing tips from the GCS blog. Really made a weed grower out of me 🙂

So far so good, the five super lemon haze fem. seeds all germinated, all of them are growing great outside since April 7th and right now they are growing at the rate of 2″ a day. In about 100 days ( more or less ) I will let you know the outcome of them this year…

  18. Verified Owner

I’ve made several purchases from GCS at this point, and I have not even one little complaint about them. Not one, and I’m kinda richardish about such things.
Moreover, their seeds are nice and big, fat, and healthy looking. The type you used to see back when you bought those bags with the stems and seeds in them. You know, back when dinosaurs were stomping on the good ol’ Terra Firma.
I didn’t get my “Green Card” until this last Monday, so I’m just now getting my personal grow system up and going now, and I can hardly wait to start my first grow with Lemon Haze. At least that’s the plan right now.
I’ve been waiting to grow my own legal cannabis since I was 19. I had a license to protect back in the day, so I didn’t risk it on cultivating pot. I’m 62 y/o now or will be on 18/7, I no longer have a DEA number to protect, so I’m about to pop my metaphoric horticultural ***** here.
I was a physician in my working days, and I have a Master’s Degree in Biology (As well as Bachelor’s in Organic Chemistry, and Math. What can I say, I liked school.), and I’ve been waiting all this time to direct my mighty moose brain muscles on this task. It’s about time that I got some use outta those degrees… well… except for the whole doctoring thing. I guess I got some pretty good mileage outta that one, but I fear I digress.
GCS is a great company to do business with. I had cause to deal with their customer service department recently because I was trying to set up a new payment method. Even though, as I sit here writing this, we’re in the middle of that whole COVID-19 kerfuffle. (Or Captain Trips, or whatever you young people are calling it nowadays.) I didn’t hear from them right, but, then again, I didn’t expect that I would considering the current medical environment. They were darn quick though, all things considered, and I like that.
They vend very good looking beans, not like the “Name Brand” varieties you get from other sellers, not to mention names. And, as if all that wasn’t enough, they have a good preferred, or repeat customer program. It takes a little reading to understand, but I like it.
In my personal opinion, I Love to Grow Marijuana is a great company to do business with. I’ve dealt with several other vendors over the years, stockpiling seeds. I’ve only had one incident where I got rogered pretty good, but it certainly wasn’t by GCS.
They’re based here in the good ol’ United States of America, if I don’t miss my guess. So if that matters to you, then, there’s that I suppose? More importantly to me, my wait time, between ordering and getting my magic beans, has been cut down quite a bit compared to others, so, once again, there’s that
I don’t write many reviews, Google it, and I give even fewer 5-Star reviews. I usually start out with 3-Stars as my baseline, and then I make ’em earn that Forth and Fifth Star. Simply stated, GCS has certainly done that.
    Later ‘taters.

Very forgiving strain, made a few mistakes along the way but was very satisfied with the yield and the quality was a 10/10.

  25. Verified Owner

This stuff grows fast, easy, and best of all prime bud. At least 5 harvests here and seems to get better all the time. Have a monster crop clone going right now. The bud gives a super high all the time, and seems to resist resistance to it. Oh yeah, it’s like a hash machine, too. I have had purple, super silver haze, SLH, Durban Poison, all super strains, but the consensus is LH is a staple. GCS makes it happen.

i grew in 50/50 happy frog and promix hp with general organics nutrients. plants are in third week of flower right now and seem to be doing well the are over 4 foot tall and was about 3 foot when i flipped to flower. have been healthy the whole grow with minimal complications. hoping the next 6 weeks packs on the bud! oh and i planted 10 plants and only six grew. i was disappointed in this but the performance of the 6 so far is great

Your day just got a whole lot better! Lemon haze is bright, powerful, and extremely easy to grow. I definitely think newcomers will enjoy growing this pot in their yards or indoors. It’s a quick growing strain, and it usually produces some nice looking weed. Very fresh and lemony.

Happy with plant health. Not impressed with the yield. 12 plants got only a little over an lb in the ebb and flow system. So skeptical to say the least. Would love to know why the yield was so low or what we could do differently

Warning on Skywalker some have hermaphrodite and pollinated the crop it is with! now I have Skywalker with lemon haze seeds should be good sometimes mistakes can be a blessing

  39. Verified Owner

My overall experience in dealing with GCS has so far been phenomenal. I ordered 10 of these lemon haze seeds and unfortunately only 6 germinated. I started germinating 4, and only 2 popped. When I wrote them, they asked if I’d be willing to try germinating the rest (even If I waited until months later) before putting in for a replacement. They wanted to make sure this wasn’t a bad strain. Well I moved along a lot faster and only 4 of the last 6 germinated. Because of my help they credited me enough to order another 10 seeds of any kind I wished! Heck ya!

As far as these plants are growing, I wanted to wait until they hit their flowering stage before reviewing them. Take a look at the pictures. I don’t like to trim plants much before flowering. I only trim what’s absolutely necessary but with these they tend to need a lot of that. I can say without a doubt they will grow exactly as described up above. You will need to trim both branches and roots (assuming you know what your doing with a hydroponic setup) otherwise they WILL take up all available space in their buckets, and the canopy will become overwhelming.

The plants pictured are only on day 35 at the time taken! Incredible! That’s 4 weeks vegetative (after seedlings are established, which took only a few days), and one week transition into flowering. I had roots hanging into the nutrient solution in a single week. I’ve never seen a plant move so fast!

Holy smokes, this stuff is some holy smoke! End result is high yielding, I got about 24 ounces off 5 plants, 3 in a 4×4, 2 in a 3×3. Keep in mind I did this hydroponically, without any training or topping, and I’m new to the indoor game so my initial setup utilizes minimal tech and knockoff LED boards. I’d say that’s a sweet indoor yield for sure.

Not the strongest smell, definitely not skunky, but citrus like smells as described. Taste is yummy, and it gets very sticky with trichromes, which can give a little tingle every now and then. Great smoke, nice and smooth. And it looks amazing. Not only does it have those lemon hints to its smell and taste, but it’s got little hints of a nice lemon yellow on the flower itself, so lovely! You won’t regret growing this! I suggest a ***** setup though if you’d like to yield multiple lbs. I can’t see it happening any other way indoors.

Trust in GCS! They’ll make sure your seeds work out, and you can trust their research and descriptions of product.

  41. Verified Owner

I bought 5, and the first 2 successfully germinated, took about 26 hours soaking in a paper towel and are now growing well. They are about a week or so old.

  42. Verified Owner

Absolutely slammin indoor.***** is the way to go

  43. Verified Owner

This yielded! Was very easy and required little pruning to produce a big yield. I got 8oz of dense useable buds with very little larf.. will definitely grow this again!

  44. Verified Owner

Freakishly delicious nug, with a HIGH THC profile and BEAUTIFUL yellow and green flowers. Mmmm it’s like you’re giving yourself a hug!

  45. Verified Owner

These seeds sprout really easily. As for the plants, I have grown something like seven different strains now, and this is the most visually beautiful one. It has really big, beautiful leaves that are just beautiful to look at. The edges of the leaves are serrated more than other plants, it seems to me. It’s striking. Really beautiful. I haven’t harvested this strain yet. I had it years ago, from a dispensary in Massachusetts, and I was like “This stuff makes me…HAPPY.” And I never see it for sale from dealers around here. I think there’s a CBD variant strain of Lemon Haze out there somewhere. I’d love to try that. I have confirmed what Sanjay Gupta and research says: for really bad chronic pain (spinal, in my case), you want a plant that has a 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD. It’s an entirely different ball game than just THC or CBD alone. I started growing out of sheer necessity, for medical purposes. I kind of pooh-poohed the idea of growing dope as a “hobby” (although I do really enjoy gardening, all kinds of plants…more and more). But I LOVE growing these — yeah…as a HOBBY. You gain really intimate knowledge of each strain, at every stage. And also of each individual plant. And I love being able to grow different varieties… If you could grow this Lemon Haze outdoors, it would be insane. They are big plants. A single plant, grown outdoors, could feed you for a very long time, I think.

  46. Verified Owner

Great experience, had some issues w leaf septoria early but kept temps down got it under control and ended up with 9 ounces from one mama and nine clones
