Top 3 Cannabis Strains in Maine

If you’re lucky enough to live in the Pine Tree State, you might already know you have the right – as an adult of 21 years or older, of course – to germinate your own Maine cannabis seeds at home and grow healing, all-natural medicine that can alleviate a wide range of symptoms!

If you’ve been using cannabis or contemplating starting, why not take your holistic health adventure one step further and cultivate it yourself? There are countless benefits to growing your own cannabis, but one factor that tops the rest: you’ll always know exactly where your flowers came from, what chemicals were used to grow them, and that they are indeed the strain you expected. At Growers Choice, we can get you started.

Guaranteed Genetics

You might wonder why buying your own cannabis seeds is such a surefire way to know you’re growing and using the strain you wanted – isn’t it possible you ordered OG Kush cannabis seeds and were sent Tangerine Dream instead? Or some random assortment of genetic material that results in an unexpected strain?

Yes, it is, but not with Growers Choice. Here, we work only with a couple of trusted breeders – we’re not a seedbank selling various vendors – and we send all our seed strains in for testing to ensure they are the strains we’re advertising. We stand behind our genetics 100%, and that’s not all…

Germination of Maine Cannabis Seeds

At Growers Choice, we also offer an outstanding, industry-leading 90% germination guarantee. What does this mean, exactly?

Well, if you order 10 cannabis seeds, say, and only 8 sprout during the germination period, then we will send you a free replacement seed to bring your germination rate up to 90%. We don’t expect our seeds to be non-viable, of course; unfortunately, there’s no way to tell for sure that a seed will germinate, but we do our best to help you get the most from your investment.

You might think there must be a lengthy registration process or some such thing required to be eligible for our Germination Guarantee, but the truth is, all you have to do to stay covered is to germinate your Growers Choice cannabis seeds within 60 days of purchase, and follow our simple, straightforward germination method – our germinate guide offers detailed step-by-step instructions and troubleshooting to help you through the process.

Growing Cannabis in Maine

Since the beginning of 2017, Maine has had recreational cannabis use laws in place, though they have had medical laws for a number of years, with almost 50,000 registered patients. Though it’ll be awhile yet before you can recreationally purchase cannabis from dispensaries around the state (currently, dispensaries are only allowed to sell marijuana to registered medical patients), it is legal to grow your own! How cool is that?

Residents of Maine who are 21 years or older have the right to grow up to 18 plants, and possess an unlimited number of seedlings. It is important to note that only 6 plants can be mature or flowering, though, so you need to remain mindful of when you transition your plants from one stage to the next.

The Growth Periods of Cannabis

Cannabis goes through a few different stages on its way to harvest.

    1. Seedling or Pre-Vegetative Stage
Though technically this stage is just early vegetative, some gardeners specify it as its own period. The seedling stage begins when you plant your sprouted seeds in their pots (or when the stem first breaks through the surface), and ends one or two weeks later, though there is some discrepancy here. Ultimately, it’s not a big deal how you classify this stage, as your little cannabis plants will be getting the 18-24 hours of light they need in the vegetative stage right from the start.
    2. Vegetative Stage
The vegetative stage stretched from germination or 1-2 weeks after, to whenever the gardener decides to transition their plants into the flowering stage. The exception here are /seed-category/cannabis-seeds/auto-flowering/ auto-flowering cannabis plants, which enter the flowering stage on their own after a few weeks. During the vegetative stage, your plants will do most of their growing, building the strength and structure on which the buds rely, so it’s important to give your plants enough time to grow strong enough. Gardeners may leave their plants in the vegetative stage for as little as two weeks to as long as a few months.
    3. Flowering Stage

Cannabis plants must be prompted to enter the flowering stage (if grown indoors). The gardener does this by switching the hours of light the plant gets each day from 18-24 to 12, resulting in equal hours of light and darkness (which represents the shortening days of late summer). Once the plants have been switched the flowering stage, bud growth begins and can take anywhere from 40 to 90 days.
