Martian Candy
The Martian Candy strain is shrouded in mystery. From the name to the lineage, not much is known about this delicious and powerful strain of cannabis. Marijuana experts believe that Martian Candy was created by combining OG Kush with other, unknown parent strains. Sometimes called “Martian Candy OG,” the Indica-dominant hybrid boasts a super powerful herbal aroma with hints of earthy pine, sweet citrus, and a touch of spicy herbs. But that’s not the end of it. Hidden underneath are these shy, floral undertones, peeking out like they’re playing a game of hide and seek. It’s one heck of an out-of-this-world, intensely herb-scented strain fiesta! You may also notice a floral scent in addition to a strong body buzz. The flavor profile is very similar to the aroma and scents of this bud. The Martian Candy strain is a bit of a slow burn, starting with a euphoric rush, soon enough, a sense of calm and positivity gently wraps around you, making the world seem a bit brighter. It’s like your mind is cleared of fog and you suddenly feel motivated, your senses sharpened, helping you ace whatever task is at hand.

Martian Candy: Out of This World
Martian Candy seeds grow into short plants with thin limbs bursting with delicious buds. The leaves of this strain tend to be shorter as they grow out of the bottom of the buds’ sites. The buds are bright green with little white and orange pistils growing toward the sky. A closer look at the buds shows that they are dusty with crystal resin trichomes. The leaves within the bud sites are dark purple and help catch the sun’s powerful UV rays, ultimately helping the plant grow. The finished, harvested nuggets are almost exclusively orange, with hints of purple, brown, and green beneath the amber waves. Breaking the nuggets apart will release that one-of-a-kind aroma we discussed earlier. Because of the unknown lineage and history of the Martian Candy strain, it has not won any major awards. Even though its resume is basic, the amount of love that this strain gets from growers and users is massive. It is a fan favorite and grows in popularity every single day. If you are interested in growing this strain for yourself, we have some tips you can follow to make sure you hit your harvest.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
If you’re looking to grow the Martian Candy Strain, semi-humid climate requirements are key. It’s all about balance so you’ll want an optimal temperature with plenty of sunlight and humidity to make this strain thrive. The strain grows best outdoors but can grow indoors well, too. It takes experience to really bring this strain to fruition, so if you have never grown your own cannabis before, then you should probably sit this one out. Martian Candy prefers hotter temperatures over cooler temps. Because these plants grow short and narrow, you can plant more than one in a small space and increase your yields almost instantly.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: Martian Candy cannabis plants can be grown indoors and outdoors by experienced growers. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 70-85 degrees Fahrenheit. During the vegetative phase, maintain a light cycle of 18-20 hours of light per day to promote healthy growth. Changing the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will induce the flowering stage and take you all the way to harvest.
- Moisture control: Humidity levels should be kept around 40-50% during the vegetative stage and maintained at around 40% during the flowering stage of growth. Lowering the humidity will help keep mold and mildew off of your plants.
- Training Techniques: Topping and Low-stress training (LST) can really help with the success of this particular strain. Each promotes better light penetration and quality air flow. These methods will also increase your yields when it comes time to harvest by adjusting or trimming the canopy to allow sunlight and air to reach even the bottom buds.
The Germination Game Plan
Before you even plant your Martian Candy female cannabis plants, you will first need to germinate these seeds. To do so, refer to our free germination guide, knowing that they are backed by our impressive 90% germination guarantee.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect to harvest after a flowering period of 56-72 days. If grown outdoors, the grower can expect to harvest in late October to early November.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 350 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 350 grams per plant. Smaller plants mean you can grow multiple plants in a smaller area and increase your yields by two or three times. This will help boost these smaller yield figures up instantly.
Dominant Terpenes in Martian Candy: Spicy and Woody
The Martian Candy terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is myrcene, while caryophyllene and limonene are secondary terpenes.
- Myrcene: Most Dominant – The Mother of all Terpenes, myrcene is known for its earthy flavor and aroma.
- Caryophyllene: Secondary Terpene – The spicy and peppery terpene found in nature as well as in some cannabis strains.
- Limonene: Citrus – Found commonly in the rinds of citrus fruits, limonene can also be found in cannabis, where it helps with anxiety and improves lung function.
Dominant Cannabinoids in Martian Candy:
Cannabinoids play an important role in Martian Candy seeds and are generally a huge part of most strains of cannabis. That relaxed, uplifted, and happy feeling you get when enjoying the Martian Candy strain is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something different to the user.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of this strain. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at 20%, the THC in this Indica-dominant strain is responsible for the happy and uplifted feeling you get when enjoying Martian Candy cannabis.
- CBD: Very Minimal Amounts – While the CBD levels in Martian Candy are around 1%, the cannabinoid is still present, and the effects are noticeable in this strain. CBD plays a smaller role in what the strain does to the user. CBD is non-psychoactive and can produce effects that help with anxiety, sleep, pain, and even stress. The CBD in the Martian Candy strain, even in its lower amounts, definitely has a positive effect on the user.
