Cannatonic
The Cannatonic strain of cannabis is also known as the “CBD Queen” because of its noticeably high CBD content. Created in 2008 by Resin Seeds in Spain, this evenly balanced hybrid features parent strains MK Ultra and G13 Haze. The Cannatonic marijuana has just enough THC to give you a comfortable, mellow high without making you feel sedated. It has a sweet citrus flavor, with an aroma of pine. Cannabis fans love the mellow buzz you catch off of Cannatonic and have said that smoking the strain isn’t harsh or overwhelming. That has to do with its lower THC content that floats around 9-10%. The mix of flavors and aromas is sweet and earthy, with a lingering hint of citrus. If you are looking for a strain that will help with pain, stress, and anxiety, then Cannatonic might just be the perfect strain for you.

Cannatonic: Bright and Bushy
Cannatonic seeds grow into medium to tall, bright, and bushy plants with loads of bud sites and long, pale green leaves. You can clearly see that the entire plant of this strain is covered with crystal resin trichomes, which adds to the flavor and aroma. There are bright orange and red pistils growing out of the buds. Because of the resin, the buds look lavender in color, but that is due to the light hitting the sparkly trichomes. The harvested nuggets are bright orange and green, with loads of dusty resin still attached. Breaking these nuggets apart will fill the air with that dank aroma of citrus and sweet pine. Cannatonic has won multiple awards, including third place in the Sativa category at the 2008 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam XXI edition. It also took home first place for CBD Flower at the 2013 High Times Cannabis Cup Amsterdam XXVI Edition. Cannatonic has one of the best CBD resumes on planet Earth and has been awarded for its unique presence in the cannabis world.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
Cannatonic grows best indoors in a controlled environment, but if you choose to grow it outdoors, it needs a Mediterranean-like climate. Grown best by experienced growers with a few home grows under their belts, Cannatonic can be a high-maintenance and finicky plant that requires a steady hand to bring it to fruition. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors as long as the specific temperature, humidity, and lighting requirements are met. It does perform better indoors where the climate can be closely monitored.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: Cannatonic cannabis plants can be grown indoors and outdoors by all experienced growers. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 72-82 degrees Fahrenheit. During the vegetative phase, maintain a light cycle of 18-20 hours of light per day to promote healthy growth. Changing the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will induce the flowering stage and take you all the way to harvest.
- Moisture control: Humidity levels should be kept around 55-60% during the vegetative stage and maintained at 50-55% during the flowering stage of growth. Lowering the humidity will help keep mold and mildew off of your plants.
- Training Techniques: Topping and Low-stress training (LST), as well as FIMing, can really help with the success of this particular strain. Each promotes better light penetration and quality air flow. These methods will also increase your yields when it comes time to harvest.
The Germination Game Plan
Before you even plant your Cannatonic female cannabis plants, you will first need to germinate these seeds. To do so, refer to our free germination guide, knowing that they are backed by our impressive 90% germination guarantee.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect to harvest after a flowering period of 60-70 days. If grown outdoors, the grower can expect to harvest in late October to early November.
- Yields: While Indoor yields are around 500 grams per square meter, outdoor grows typically produce up to 400 grams per plant. CBD strains tend to produce lesser yields than THC strains, but that doesn’t mean that these yields aren’t still spectacular. Given the time and effort it takes to grow Cannatonic, you should be satisfied with these numbers.
Dominant Terpenes in Cannatonic: Queen of CBD
The Cannatonic terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is myrcene, while pinene, caryophyllen,e and limonene are secondary terpenes.
- Myrcene: Most Dominant – Earthy and woodsy, this terpene is known as the “Mother of all Terpenes.”
- Pinene: Secondary Terpene – Found in conifer trees and pine needles. This terpene gives off a pine-like aroma when found in cannabis strains.
- Caryophyllene: Spicy Terpene – The spicy and peppery terpene found in nature as well as in some cannabis strains.
- Limonene: Citrus – Found commonly in the rinds of citrus fruits, limonene can also be found in cannabis, where it helps with anxiety and improves lung function.
Dominant Cannabinoids in Cannatonic:
Cannabinoids play an important role in Cannatonic seeds and are generally a huge part of most strains of cannabis. That relaxed, uplifted, and happy feeling you get when enjoying the Cannatonic strain is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something different to the user.
- THC: The Main Character – THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of this strain. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at 9%, the THC in this evenly balanced strain is responsible for the creative and euphoric feeling you get when enjoying Cannatonic cannabis.
- CBD: Very Minimal Amounts – The CBD levels in White Rhino are around 14%, and the effects are noticeable in this strain. CBD plays a smaller role in what most strains do to the user. CBD is non-psychoactive and can produce effects that help with anxiety, sleep, pain, and even stress. The CBD in the Cannatonic strain definitely has a positive effect on the user.
