How to Grow

Since growing Biscotti successfully is dependent on many factors such as light, temperature, and humidity, carefully choosing whether to grow indoors or outdoors is important. Biscotti needs a warm climate (70⁰-85⁰ F) and humidity between 50-70%. An outdoor environment that meets these requirements may produce a higher yield than growing indoors providing there is adequate natural light and space. Pruning would still be required.

When growing Biscotti indoors, the temperature and humidity should be kept the same as if outdoors. Lighting is the major factor in maximizing yield when growing indoors. During the vegetative stage, Biscotti needs a minimum of 18 hours of light per day for a few weeks to maximize growth. It is then recommended to switch the lighting to a 50/50 regime between light and darkness to stimulate the flowering stage. Dropping the temperature and humidity slightly at this point can be beneficial.

Plants will flower in about  55-65 days yielding a harvest of up to about 300 grams per plant indoors. Outdoors should yield about 350 grams per plant in mid-late October. To harvest, cut the branches and hang them upside down for about 7-10 days to dry out. Then cure them by putting each in an airtight jar for about 2-4 weeks. Make sure to open the jar daily for the first week to release any moisture.  Once cured, it is ready to smoke and enjoy!
