Cannabis Seeds Mission

Located in the Coast Mountains in British Columbia (BC) is the growing city of Mission. Like all of Canada, residents of the BC province have had full legal access to medical and recreational marijuana since 2001 and 2016, respectively. As a result, the cannabis industry is alive and well in Mission, where first-time to advanced growers are able to freely practice the outdoor and indoor cultivation of marijuana, with numerous cultivators buying their high-quality cannabis seeds from Growers Choice Seeds–one of the most reputable seed banks around.

About Mission, British Columbia

Nestled in the southern coastal mountain slopes of the Coast Mountains atop a verdant valley that overlooks the Fraser River, 41,000 residents now call the peaceful and charming city of Mission home. As a part of the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Stó:lō First Nations people, Mission, which was established in the 1890s by Christian colonizers, is still home to the remains of X̱á:ytem, a 9,000-year-old Indigenous village that is an officially recognized National Historic Site.

Mission has it all with breathtaking mountain vistas and natural forest settings while being just a 15-minute drive to the U.S. border and about 56 kilometers east of the major city of Vancouver, which means that its residents don’t have to sacrifice easy access to certain amenities in the States and the more cultural and cosmopolitan advantages that come with residing in Vancouver for living in a smaller, quieter, pastoral setting.

While Mission is a small community, it’s hardly a “podunk boring town.” Instead, it is known for world-class White Sturgeon angling opportunities; arts and culture festivals; heritage and cultural sites; outdoor activities; and small-town dining opportunities like the Rocko’s Diner, which is infamous for its 40 flavors of milkshakes, for being the first drive-in and first 24-hour restaurant in Mission, and for being one of Canada’s top ten filming locations. And, because the purchase, possession, use, and growing of medical and recreational marijuana are completely legal in the entire BC province, Mission is also home to a vibrant community of cannabis users and growers.

Before we get into more details about the types of seeds and strain types that we have available, let’s make sure you know the fundamentals of the medical and recreational marijuana laws in Mission, BC.

Canada’s Medical Cannabis Laws

The medical marijuana program in Mission, BC, and every province and territory in the nation, falls under Canada’s federal laws and is overseen by Health Canada, which has made access to medical cannabis is pretty simple and straightforward affair.

Essentially, all one needs to do to become a licensed and registered medical marijuana patient in Mission, or anywhere in Canada, is to be qualified by a licensed physician and then register with Health Canada–regardless of age, as there is no minimum age requirement to apply to become a medical user.

Once a patient receives their registration certificate, it will indicate how many cannabis plants they are allowed to grow at home, where they can grow their medical marijuana crops, and how much cannabis flower they can store at home. In addition, provided that a medical user has the proper documentation on them, they can possess up to 150 grams of usable cannabis in public.

Mission, BC’s Recreational Cannabis Laws

When it comes to recreational weed laws in Canada, every province and territory can and does set its own regulations around things like:

  • Minimum age for use
  • At-home cultivation restrictions
  • How many plants can be grown per household, and where they can be cultivated
  • Home storage limits
  • Whether or not the public consumption of cannabis is permitted
  • If cannabis products can be sold by government, private, and/or public retailers

This means that it is very important that you remember that just because those who reside anywhere in British Columbia are allowed to grow up to four cannabis plants at home out of public view, this rule does not apply to someone living in Alberta, which does not stipulate that plants must be kept out of public view, or someone in Manitoba, which only allows those with a medical license to cultivate weed at home.

Some other recreational laws worth knowing about in BC, and therefore Mission, is that the province’s minimum age requirement is set at 19, and while weed and its products can be smoked/vaped in most places where the smoking of tobacco cigarettes is allowed, it cannot be combusted in public areas used by kids, like playgrounds and schools.

Feminized Seeds and Autoflowering Seeds

Growers Choice Seeds only sells feminized seeds that are either photoperiods or autoflowers. This means that, unlike regular seeds, which have a 50/50 chance of producing both male and female plants, cultivators who buy their favorite cannabis strains from us have a 99% chance of ending up with all-female plants that should produce THC- or CBD-rich buds.

Feminized Photoperiod Seeds

As photoperiods, feminized cannabis seeds can only move into their flowering stage if their light/dark cycle is changed from what is usually, but not always, an 18/6 schedule to a 12/12 cycle.

Understandably, this might sound like a Herculean task for an inexperienced grower but coupled with the fact that we provide a free blog that covers almost everything you need to know about cannabis, including how to grow it and how the 12/12 light cycle works, newbies should be able to easily arm themselves with free knowledge and find success with low-maintenance strains like Game Changer feminized seeds, which is rated a novice-friendly, high-yielding indica-dominant hybrid.

Autoflowering Feminized Seeds

Autoflowering strains are feminized seeds that have had about 10% to 20% of the swarthy landrace strain of ruderalis added to their genetics, which affords them the following highly desirable traits:

  • Being able to automatically transition to their flowering stage based on their age as opposed to light cycles.
  • Being smaller, which is especially useful for those with limited growing spaces be it indoors or on a small outdoor balcony, etc.
  • Faster-flowering, which generally allows for multiple outdoor harvests in one growing season.
  • Greater resiliency, which often means that autoflowers will handle cultivation mistakes or sudden changes in weather much better than feminized photoperiods can.

Not only are easy-to-grow autoflowers like Nebula auto-flowering feminized seeds great for beginner growers to try their hands at and that much easier because they don’t require outside intervention in their light/dark cycles, but strains like Royal Kush auto-flowering feminized seeds are a great option for growing indoors during Mission’s colder winter months as their plants only grow to be 2-4 feet in height.

Indicas, Sativas, and Hybrids

All of the strains we at Growers Choice offer are either a landrace strain–a pure indica or pure sativa–or a hybrid strain. Read on to find out the main characteristics of indicas, sativas, and hybrids.

As a general rule of thumb, indica plants are short, bushy growers that average between 2-4 feet in height. The typical hallmarks of indica buds are that they are small, tightly packed together, and often have deeper shades of green. On average, a pure indica will finish flowering in about 7-9 weeks, while a pure sativa can take 12 weeks.

Effects-wise, indicas, such as highly-prized Tora Bora feminized seeds, are known for producing wonderfully relaxing and sedating physical relaxation that often results in sleep, which is why most prefer to use indicas in the evening.

Pure sativa strains, like the hard-to-come-by wake-and-bake fan favorite Pineapple Thai feminized seeds, usually mature into tall plants with fewer branches than an indica. Often times you will find that the “fingers” of a sativa leaf are more narrow, with visible space between each leaflet. Landrace sativa strains are known for producing light green elongated nuggets that are more “feathery,” or loose, in their structure.

As for their dominant effects, sativas are the total opposite of indicas in that they are all about waking users up and providing them with a huge recharge of energy and cerebral euphoria. Due to their rousing effects, you’ll usually see sativas talked about at daytime strains.

The most common, and arguably most popular, strains that our customers in Mission, BC seem to be especially fond of are hybrids as they offer the best of both worlds by combining sativas and indicas so that users can enjoy both physically relaxing and mentally energizing effects.

Hybrids come in all “shapes and sizes” with some being sativa or indica dominant and others, like Donna OG feminized seeds, being a 50/50 blend of the two (as well as autoflowers which come with the aforementioned added 10% to 20% ruderalis).
